I’ll also give you a “secret” code for many of these cottage companies: the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code. I’ve included the SIC code in the profiles of those occupations that have a code (many don’t). You can use it to find customers, competitors and marketing opportunities. You’ll also use this code as you complete Schedule C of your IRS Form 1040 for taxes. I’ll tell you more about SIC codes in the GROWTH section of this website.
